Should have known it was going to be interesting, I have been riding him most days to keep the weight off him, but had other commitments the last 3 nights, so tonght F was fresh as.... well, as a daisy is SO not the right term... so I'll settle for fresh as a welsh dragon instead!
Jogged up the road into the forest. Jogged along the tracks in the forest. When I really seriously insisted he walk, he canters sideways into the bracken. Sideways. I never knew he had the talent!
We turn onto a track and I think, just think maybe I'll let him canter up here to let off some steam. I swear I didn't gve any physical aid, but he zooms off before I've had time to finish thinking the thought!
Almost have an accident because 2 cyclists come the other way from out of nowhere, cue F leaping up onto (and back off) a bank and almost taking me into a tree in the process. So I think hmm maybe a good long trot wil take the edge off him without the high probability of instant death, so we trot for over 25 minutes - I can't stop the b*gger! when we do stop he's better, more relaxed so we go about a normal-ish hack after that. We come across a spot where you can go off the beaten track and jump a course of logs, did that, but didn't manage to stop at the end and came flying out the other side of that area across a track and up onto another bank
thank GOD there were no cyclists or walkers, because I couldn't stop him!
That was the end of our interesting antics though, he did calm down into the nice neddy I always knew he was after that, give or take a couple of spooks at huskies - well, not the actual huskies, but the very scary stationary exercise vehicle.
*sigh* does anyone else have a horse who gets this excited and fresh? He is normally forward going but safe with breaks, I promise you!
