I bought a new horse a few weeks ago I had a two stage vetting and then the vet came today for the tetanus and oh no the pony isn't 11 like I was told and was confirmed in the vetting it is nearer 18!

Get another opinion and get them both on paper, If you still want the pony, get them to drop the price accordingly, If not - send it back.

I would ask for a second opinion, from a dentist. Then if the vet was wrong write a strong letter of complaint and ask for your vetting fee back.

Can you get the price lowered accordingly? If not then can you afford to pay that for an old pony to keep your daughter happy, bearing in mind the pony isn't going to be around for as long as previously thought? If it is a first pony she may get just as attached to a replacement and have more years of fun with him / grow out of him and you will have something to sell on and finance a second pony.
