Oh flip....toads?!

Hypothetically (:rolleyes:) if you were looking after a collie (who has spent his morning upside down beside me on the sofa) and after he's taken himself off outside, you hear him "chatting" away to something.

Say, you go to investigate his little wuffing noises and see him cradling a toad in his paws...and on closer inspection realise he's licking it for all it's worth :eek::eek: What to do?! I'm sure I've read toads are poisonous, but is licking them the same as eating them?! Toad has been safely taken away from him (cue mourning whimper or two) and the vet's are engaged at the moment.

Any ideas?! Don't think it was one of those "special" toads, he's not hallucienating...yet(!) Obviously this is all hypothetical.... :o but good to know, y'know, for future reference.... *whistles innocently*
 
I personally wouldnt worry too much - on the basis that Islay loves toads, she jumps on them whenever she can, and she is very fit and healthy and still with me :)

I, of course, am the person who had no idea that it was a toad until a friend pointed it out to me :o I thought it was a frog :o Well to me they are just small horrible things that jump around a lot :rolleyes:
 
Heehee at you two, whilst I do agree with both of you re description...it was indeed a toad he was licking (zoology degree put to good use there). He's a good boy but it now sulking I've ruined his fun. Will keep an eye on him :) Thanks for the reassurance!!
 
Damn, do you think it's worth finding the toad again and giving it a smooch? If it hasn't harmed Buster then it won't harm me, right? :confused: If it turns out to be a "special" one, then at least my Monday will be....different!

Ahh... the joys of having a week off work to dog sit and smooch amphibians :D
