Feeling really stressed out and upset

Thought I had sorted out someone for mare to go out on full loan too. Complications have struck and now she can only pick her up this weekend (long story but otherwise can't pick her up until 3-4 weeks!) I haven't got the loan agreement sorted with the solicitor yet (as had planned for her to go the weekend after!) and obviously now won't be able to get one sorted before the weekend.

Due to a change of circumstances, I can't keep the mare much longer (def not 3-4 weeks) so really dont know what to do - this is turning really stressful and upsetting!

Should I just go with the BHS contract or what would you do?

Adapt the BHS one as a temporary measure, sign it with a note to say second and final contract is to be drawn up in a month's time. Make the month your decider stay/return period. If they like the horse and you like them, the contract shouldn't worry them at all.

Might be a long night for you! I put photo's of the pony we loaned out and the horse we loaned in (I did BOTH contracts

) one head shot from the front and one good side shot.

Both mine are adapted from the BHS template.

Sadly a number of horses go missing while on loan.

Get your horse both Freezemarked and Microchipped and also keep some of it's main or tail so that you can also get it identified by DNA.

Ask to see the passport, driving licence and rates bill of the person loaning the horse and photocopy them so that you have proof of who they are and where they live.

The BHS loan agreement needs to be checked by a solicitor and then the final copy should be duplicated and each of both copies signed and witnessed by both parties concerned. Each of you keep a copy.

print copy paste a bhs contract and put your own conditions in re value of horse, insurance required (unless you are continuing to insure the horse) value and specifics of tack and rugs, uses of horse, vet terms (worming, teeth feet), where it will be kept, at DIY,Part, full livery and full address, print 3 copies all to be signed by you, loanee,(need loanees adress tel no at home and work, and work address!!) and independant witness. with a clause that contract will be reviewed and updated in specified period. (7 to 14 days). arrange to visit next week and check all is well. all 3 copies of contract must be signed and dated before you release horse. make sure you have a clause that you can collect horse(and items) without notice if terms of loan are not met!
