I actually think that if that's one of the 'big' welfare stories these days, then it's actually quite comforting?
The ponies all looked fairly laid back and they might not have been well handled, but they didn't look 'wild', I didn't see any in poor bodily condition (though heavy shetland can hide lack of condition admittedly), and apart from the one with the nail in it's foot (inexcusable) their feet all looked pretty good.
I would have said that much progress has been made when we're getting to the stage of dealing with cases like that rather than of emaciated and half crippled animals.
