Right, so I have an Equitrek which I dislike intensely BUT the TB will load in it so assumed it was here to stay. Bought the new boy home in a hire box (bleddy Landy broke down ). He loaded fine, travelled fine. I go to load him today into the Equitrek Spacetrekka L and he won't go in. TBF, he tries, gets up the ramp, head goes up, smacks he'd panics and won't go in. I totally see why but not sure what to do now! Looking at him, I'm not sure he would fit even if he did go in. It's supposed to take 2x17.2hh and he is a 17.1hh and my old 17.2hh was fine in there.

Any ideas what trailer has a big head height and a shallower ramp? He has gone into an IFOR 510 in the past (I think), so could start there. Problem is getting the TB loaded so need something fairly bright and welcoming as he hated the new Rice we used to have.

Help!!

I personally think the 510 is a good bet, They are nice sturdy trailers, bright and airy. Open up all doors and ramps to load and they are very inviting. The Rice IME feel very flimsy underfoot which may be off-putting for some. :)

I borrowed a 510 to take the mare to the vets and then ended up buying a 505 and the 510 is much much bigger, my poor mare looked lost in it but she loaded easier than she's ever loaded in her life! if my boy gets to big for the 505 I will defo be swapping for a 510 :)

Both my 17.1s love the 510. Horse number 1 has a very long neck and he wont travel in a lorry since his eventing days *(before I got him) of being cramped up for hours. Horse number 2 prefers it without the partition since he has a big bum.

I know its not a sexy piece of kit but the horses are happy so I am

I have a Wessex Olympian for my 17hh ID. Her neck goes up from her withers so her head carriage is quite high and she has plenty of room in the Olympian.
The other benefit is that the partition pivots from the centre which gives a lot more space for unloading via the front ramp.

Thanks guys. The big lad is trying, bless him. Kept trying to get into the Equitrek but would get so far, put his head up then smack it on the lintel. As I said, not sure he would fit in anyway. I thought they were for up to 17.2hh??? In 3 years I've gone through 1 lorry, 2 equitreks and a Rice trying to keep horses happy. I just want something to work!!!
