OH has suggested a horsey break - recommendations please..

OH is a complete beginner (he has had one lesson) so it would have to be somewhere that could cater for him - like a trekking centre or something with a big friendly giant of a horse?? I don't mind plodding along with him.

Anywhere in the UK would be fine tho' I do love the Lake District this time of year.

Probably go for a couple of days and we would like really nice accomodation - we like our creature comforts!

Any recommendations gratefully received

Well it will be a break from my horses lol - no mucking out for two whole days and a horse all groomed and tacked up, just waiting for me to get on

I thought that too! How lucky are you! My OH is allergic to horses so I will never get this suggestion from him!

Perhaps I should have put horsey holiday lol. There are loads on the internet but it would be nice to go somewhere recommended.

OH mentioned it last night and then reminded me this morning to try and book something!!!!

If I get some flowers delivered to work today I might get worried he's up to something

Not that I am biased at all - Ella is Clydesdale x and the big bay is a Russian heavy horse. Your OH will love it and the scenery will be stunning

I had a nice break at Horse Holiday Farm in Sligo. They cater for beginners and experienced - you are allowed out on your own if they trust you. They do pub rides where you can tie up in a barn next to the pub which might appeal to the boyfriend. Very relaxing,nothing fancy.

Just looked on their website but it says you have to be able walk, trot and canter with confidence - OH can't do this

However, it looks brilliant - I went riding on the beach recently and loved it - thanks for info

Do you have an idea where you would like to go? We've just booked a holiday in the Lake District and the hotel gave us a couple of recommendations for exactly what you're asking about. Or are you looking for a place to go that has horses on site?

I don't mind either - separate hotel + trekking centre or something with horses on site tho' we are quite picky with accomodation

Would you mind sending me the details you have??

I got the riding bug by going for a trek in the Lake District - but can't remember the name of the place

Would be good if we could go there again - the pony really took the p*ss out of me, stopping to snack every 2 mins, I always said I would go back and ride him properly
