Shantia,
My new mare (the appy x welsh d) who would apparently kill you as soon as look at you has been with me now for about 3 months, a lot of groundwork and chill out time later and she was ridden tonight for the first time in 2 years!!!

No bucking, or any funny business, she went on the lunge under saddle with stirrups swinging to see what she did, then when we were sure all was good my friend got on her back asked for walk then a little bit of trot then a pat rider got off and we popped her back in the field with her chums where she promptly rolled then came back up to us for a kiss! Tonight was so impromptu, it just felt right. to come to me with the label of a horse that would kill you as soon as look at you, who without me agreeing to take her on was going to potters has turned a corner since she came away from her old home and so far seems to only be looking forward!

Everything that has been done with her has been a good experience (feet, teeth, vet, ground work) and now to see her with someone on her back and no resistance only enjoyment, took my breath away with pride. Sorry no photo of her being ridden (phone was in the car and I didn't want to leave the school) But here is one of her...

I AM SO PROUD!!!

That is wonderful news, having had a difficult Appy in the past and a bonkers Welsh D, I am so glad to hear that she is happy and good with you. I now have a good, well mannered Appy (after the other one died aged 33, after 20 odd wonderful years with her

)
I think the key is to be consistant and firm, so that they know that you can deal with any situation.
Glad she likes you and hope you have many happy years with her.

Thank you all. I am just the proudest mummy in the world. Can't wait to get on her back again (hopefully this weekend!)
