Left a commission bid at a local auction house as I couldn't go to bid as I was dinner ladying and just found out that I won it!
LOL, it needs about £600 worth of work as it's in a right state but I don't smoke, drink, do drugs or gamble so that will be where my money will be going. Tree looks fine though.
It's a 1930's flat doeskin seat Mayhew with the wide "improved grip" pommels that they were famous for and looks to be a medium/wide fit so will fit Hattie. As soon as I pick it up on Friday, it's going to my saddler to be overhauled! Whoo hoo!!!!!
 
I will do! It's got foam rubber Ilsey panels which seemed to be in vogue during the 1930's but have gone all hard and crumbly, my off-side side saddle has an Ilsey foam seat and pommels but it's been stored properly all these years so it's still squishy. I will need new panels put on or get a Wykham pad made for it plus new girth straps and a new over girth as well. The rest of the saddle is fine, just needs intensive saddling soaping and oiling to revive the leather and I need to clean the doeskin.
 
Fantastic - what a project! Out of interest, who is the saddler you are using? Always in need of good recommendations having had a bad experience or two by saddlers who claimed to be SS specialists!
 
Yes, there is one "side saddle specialist" that is listed on the Master Saddlers website that I will not touch after they did such a poor job on my last side saddle and then they tried to sell me a limpet pad to cover up their cr*p reflocking job.

I use two, Leo Wright Saddlery: http://www.leoalexander.co.uk/prod.asp?act=sprod&id=37 (he made my Wykham pad for my last saddle, that's Hattie on his website! He always does a top notch excellent job) or Roger Whitehead who is right near me. Roger isn't listed on any side saddle website as a specialist but he knows his stuff and I trust him with my tack and fitting Hattie. Always does an excellent job too.
