Oh no, laminitis! Advice please

Thanks everyone!
Would hi-fi molasses free be any good? I'm struggling to get hold of the Simple System feed for a few days...the delivery will be 3-5 days :(
I know Fast Fibre has been mentioned too - this I could probably get from my local feed merchant but it seems a bit boring to give without anything in it, and doesn't look much like 'fibre' in the traditional form - can it be fed as a hay replacer?
The boys had this through winter but they only had a handful soaked and we added a bit of happy hoof to it, just as a small feed for them to come in to.

Fast fibre is great because it is low starch and sugar and can be used as a complete hay replacer and has added vits/mins. The only issue is that they can eat it fairly quickly in comparison to long stem fibre like hay. I get round this by adding some chaff (molasses free is ideal or high fi lite) so it takes them longer to chew. :)

It looks boring to us, (mind you so does a field of grass) but most horses seem to love it.

Hi-fi mollasses free contains alfa-a and has quite a high oil content so it isn't ideal but is possibly better than HH.

does your feed merchant stock any straw based unmollassed chaffs?

I feed Fast fibre with no chaff... Boy loves it!

I'll call in at the feed merchant when I finish work & see what they have that's suitable.
Incidentally I've checked the websites & FF has 5% starch & 2.5% sugar whereas hi-fi molasses free has only 1.5% starch & 2% sugar so this might be a better alternative & should take her longer to eat it...?

Dengie have two molasses free chaff, one with and one without [almost] alfalfa.
for my boy it HAS to be molasses free! Low alfalfa.
I think you have to add something to chaff, really it is used to add texture to the feed. stick with Fast Fibre as it has added mins and vits. Mins and Vits are vital!
When on grass, I feed Laminator from Equimins , and he does not have laminitis.

Oh I forgot.....the one thing you can feed her in abundance is wilted nettles (we still have ample growing about these parts!).
Just chop a load at the base, leave for an hour to kill the sting, and feed. They are full of anti-oxidants and best of all free!

Yes I agree with the nettles and add to that fresh dandelion root and cleavers (sticky willy) and hawthorne tips - my mare used to gobble up a bucket full of this lot a day
