went to bring the horses in for the night and my horse is stood there in just a lycra shoulder thing to stop her rug rubbing no rug :s. shes fully clipped and was stood there nearly falling over she was shivering that much. so brought her in and rugged her up. then went on a search through 2 huge fields and 2 paddocks in about -3 degrees with hardly any clothes on as normally i get all 4 in and sorted in about 15 mins in the dark looking for her rug. shed snapped the front buckles, turned it inside out and surcingles and leg straps still fastened. and whys it always in the last place you look?

so anyway i got mad with her and i feel REALLY bad

Well you'd be a bit silly if you kept looking.

I'm shore she'll forgive you in the morning. Maybe a few carrots in her breakfast will help.

Aw poor horse. I found mine in a similar situation earlier this year. Found her with her Rhino shredded around her front legs. It had blown up at the back in the strong wind and the whole thing had pulled forward and hung round her chest, tangled in her front legs. She was stuck right in the middle of the field, she couldn't move, in lashing rain and 70 mph winds. By the time I rescued her and got her back to the stable both of us were soaked, freezing and jolly miserable. I felt SO bad for her, though. Wondering just how long she'd suffered there until I came.

At least you found the rug!

Around us some lovelies possibly of the peripatetic persuasion have taken to getting into feilds and stables at night and taking the rugs off the horse's backs. All we found is a load of very cold competition type warmbloods shivering naked in the morning. And the irony is we have no choice but to go out and get new rugs because the horses need them - so they come back a few days later and bingo...new rugs!
