pants dressage test today....
he has being going sooo much better the last few months - really been working on him and trying so hard to improve
last test we did in july got 57%
he warmed up today niceish bit mardy bcos it was v early (test at 8.30 am!!)
went into test arena immediately went into giraffe mode after seeing the scary white boards... did th whole test with head up in air - reverted back to old ways , v tense- pants pants pants...
im sure it was mostly my fault him tensing up but its so frustrating after all this hard work - we only got 56% - i really thort we were geting somewhere.
i know he has been going much better than he went in the test - am pretty sure if he went like he did yesterday schooling i would have another 10%..
just disheartened really wanted to have a nice test and get some good feedback to work on but instead all the feedback was tense, tense, hollow , above bit etc
also got a comment to stop clicking!!!- really bad habit i have wen nervous lol
pointless post really!!!

At least u managed 2 ride ur horse this morning!! i went 1 plait mine up this morning and her leg has swelled up like a balloon! damn hartpury and keeping them in! I'm hoping that has cuased some of the problem anyway!! I saw u riding th other day in withum and he looked really nice, keep doing it there r loads on here so just keep doing them! that my plan!

thanks dude [****] is ur horse ok?im still not sure who u r?! i hate keeping them in cant wait for him to go home at xmas and b out in his field!!

I have blonde hair and spend my life in a purple coat, my pony is in G barn, the chesnut mare. Her leg has swollen up 4 no reason! theres heat in it now but there want is morning, its a front leg 2 and its not as if its just filled its HUGE!! it think (am hoping) she has just wacked her splint and that it will go down cuase shes not lame on it its just v swollen! damn it! We won last time aswell and i wanted 2 do my first novice!

Poor you. Its v frustrating isn't it, when they're going well at home and still s***e at competitions.
My mare is the same totally, and I know I just have to get her out and do more stuff, but its hard at this time of year.

Oh bum! Dont be down about it..we all go through tense times etc....and know we can do better..how about having a "schooling" day where he can see white boards etc.. and you ride some test with no pressure etc? I like to ride my tests a few times at home and then "imagine" I am at home still when doing the test... I too still get tense and nervous and know I can do better... dont beat yourself up though..keep going it will get easier honest!! You may be better off hiring an arena (maybe with friends to cut the cost!) so he gets use to white boards?.. anway keep on trucking...hard work does pay off eventually

haha thing is test was at my yard lol!! but they put down the white boards which he has never seen before. i know it was mainly my fault as well think i need to learn to chill!

well done and DO NOT worry too much!!! ive had my scatty mare 2 yrs and my mare looks, spooks, acts a div in a test, its taken me 2 yrs(she still has her moments) 2 get her 2 listen and chill when out doing a test even tho she works nice at home. Its all swings and round-abouts with horses isnt it.Keep trying and get out wiv nelly as much as poss, its the only way with a spooky horse. And 4get about horses head, its rhythm and paces they pref@ prelim/unafil level.Best of luck.
