Dressage diva solves SJ problem
Never quite got t grips with ED showjumping. I jump him in a kimblewick and school (flat) in demi-anki snaffle.
Wife (dressage diva) has been saying for a while that the kimblewick is not good for him as it prevents him taking the connection forward. On the flat his canter is brilliant in the snaffle, up, through and really taking the connection forward (her words) but I just cant hold him SJ in it.
Anyway wife has been nagging me to try a drop noseband with the snaffle as she was convinced the problem was him crossing his lower jaw when I jump him.
To humour her I tried it and dam it she was absolutel right.
Now I can put him where I want him. He's taking me to fences which really helps to see a stride and he doesn't run after the jump. With the better quality canter his shape or a fence is 200% better and he isn't knocking them anymore. When we are wrong to a fence I can now hold for and extra short one and go off 2 strides no problem. before this would have resulted in a stop. Playing over 1.25 uprights at the weekend and he never touch a pole.
so the good bit is I can now look forward to competing again but i have to put up with the "told you so's" and the "you should have done it ages ago's" and the.....well you get the picture
