Okay, so the house we thought we were going to buy is suddenly £50k more than we had anticipated

So...., whilst it's not out of the running completely, I really do not want to pay more than £300k and I want to be able to keep our three neds on it. Would rather have somewhere that needs work/tlc. Don't particularly want a big house.

We can go anywhere in the country. I work all over the place, so we're not tied down to any one spot

.

We want to compete - PC, BE, BSJA, and lots of lovely hacking.

Not in a hurry as finishing off some bits and pieces here, but would like to get gone and done within six months or so

Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

Shropshire, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire ...... kind of round the Welsh border.

Very nice countryside and good transport links.

You could even consider Herefordshire if desperate

Keeeeeeeeent!!

No idea on the general trend in prices in the area though - equus would be the best place to look maybe?

But our horse-shows / PC's / hacking is just fab wherever you go

Do you use rural scene? Lots of suitable equine properties on there. For your budget I'd say you'd get most for your money in Lincolnshire/north Cambridgeshire or Carmarthenshire.

Cornwall!
My friends going to look at a 4bed house/5 acres/stables and barns ect, £350k!!
lots of beaches/woods/sandy tracks
I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
Well the new Forest would be lovely!!!

My fields are a 2 min walk from this big hill (Carn Marth)
And I can see pretty much all of Cornwall!
My fields are the ones in the middle of pic in the shade

Come to Cumbria, some amazing hacking in the lake district and on the beaches. There are great competition yards and Myerscough is just diwn the road. Also it is cheap and you will get plenty of land.

We had looked at Lincolnshire, but inland rather than near to coast, when we were wanting a house with land - before we found our current fab yard. Some medium sized houses with a few acres for under 300,000 (or a little over but not lots of thousands). We found a great house just at the end of the M180 but we were not in a position to sell at that point.

Id say Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire, very good around if you are near the A1 to get to everything, you may be lucky and find something cheap in Leicestershire but can be pricey the further in you go.
Thats the area I am looking in, moving out of Norfolk because it takes so long to get everywhere from here.

I think North Somerset considering it has reasonable comms. other than that for 300k you will need to look Lincolnshire, Norfolk/Suffolk Cambridgeshire, Wales or Scotland.

Leicestershire/Rutland - Beautiful countryside, fantastic hacking - renowned for having some of the best hacking and hunting country in the world! Plenty of Large Equestrian Centres and Livery Yards around and Affiliated/Unaffiliated Competitions.

What about West Wales? Pembrokeshire has a lot of amazing beaches to ride on! Very nice place tolive. Very very low crime rate. you can leave your keys in your car overnight, your doors unlocked etc!!!

Marymoo- I was about to say we're in Norfolk, and are limited to a 2.h hour journey to any event but could have attended lots of BSJA, have done loads of unaffiliated stuff (loads of local RCs) which is a fairly high standard, lots of PC stuff (once again, lots of PCs and a wide range of competition levels with some lovely camps) and we can easily reach Burnham Market, Blackwater, Poplar Park, Towerlands, Stratford Hills, Litlle Downham and Isleham... quite a lot for enthusiastic amatuers on a budget!
