Was just reading another post and had to chuckle about people comments on trusting/leaving responsibility to their OH's when it comes to their animals.

Now my Finny is MY BABY!!! He's is the bestest friend I could ask for... I worry about him, I love him, I'll do anything for him.

So when OH asked if he could collect him from my parents and take him to his flat ready for when I came home from work (I work evenings/nights and most weekends) I was a little apprehensive .. not because I didn't trust OH, or because I didn't trust Finn.. just didn't want either to be in a position that they were unsure of. Finn hasn't been anywhere without me more than a handful of times in his whole life!!

However I agreed but did require a text update of the progress and situation when OH picked up my boy LOL how sad is that!!!

blush.gif

Anyways it seemed I had nothing to worry about as OH absolutely adores Finn and Finn was the little angel as ever!! I arrived at the flat at around 1am to find both very sleepy and happy as can be apparently having spent the evening playing, eating and sleeping!!! LOL Boys!! *rolls eyes*

SO guys : ~

Do you trust your OH with your dog?
Do you feel strange when you know someone else is taking your dog out?

Oh and as a treat for Finny we purchased him a new bed for his visits to the flat!! What do you think?

He's so sweet, and hasn't he grown into a big handsome boy!

In answer to your question, I don't have a dog anymore but yes I always used to worry about him when I wasn't there and I would often ring up my OH and the first question would be 'how's Barney?' lol!

Ahh thanks hun - he's certainly big - OH decided to give him a bath on Saturday whilst I was cooking dinner... OH nearly broke his back trying to life the unwilling 10stone lump into the bath!! Once in Finny was fine - but forget him going anywhere near the bathroom with OH now!! haha!!
grin.gif

Follows mummy straight in though - reckon he knows I can't lift him so he's safe!!!

LOL It's funny isn't it!!

They really our like babies - well finn is certainly like that too me!!!!

So it looks like life is on the up? A new OH have I missed something?

He is one stunning chap now! Bumble Dog would still try and kill him

Is he an irish draugh cross? He's lovely!

My OH has always been a dog person, he had one growng up and used volunteer at the Dogs Trust when he left home and couldn't have one. But when we first started going out my 2 used to take the mick completely, you have to be quite firm with them, I have a jack russell and any Australian Kelpi cross. Once he made it clear he was in charge they were fine with him. He takes them out for their evening walks and has always come back wth both dogs so far!!! They both love their Dad.

Wow that bed looks lush!! I sort of trust OH with Andy
tongue.gif
- as in I sometimes leave Andy at home on Sunday mornings and trust OH to let him out for a wee, but that's about it. OH likes dogs but he has no control over him - he manages to lose him everytime he walks him
crazy.gif
and Andy treats OH like his play thing. Andy goes to my mum's when I'm at work and I totally trust her and my sister with him though
smile.gif

Lol...he is loving his new bed
laugh.gif

I trust OH, 100%, even though my rotti has just had a cruciate op, and it happened whilst out with him, I know it was not his fault, she jsut thought she was a 15kg whippet, instead of a 45kg rotti
crazy.gif
grin.gif
but as far as their safety, he is the only one, other than my mam, that I trust to take them out
smile.gif

Strange how many dog-beds there is out there that looks so comfortable I want to sleep in them
blush.gif
.

Also funny to read the text about your baby Finny and look at the photo and see well, a rather well grown very handsome dog, but I so think I know what you mean, my Buhund that died in January last year at 12 years of age was our baby all her life.
Actually once my mother and me was talking about how old the pets were and after mother responding with "What, is Nessie and Raya already that old!" she then asked about how old our little baby Humla was? And I answered "Humla is 9 years old now".

Don't have an OH but he would have to be very special if I would allow him to do something on his own with my dogs in the early stages of our relationship (*whispers* read that as

years *stops whispering*).
The only one I feel comfortable with being out walking my dogs without me, is my mother.

About the bathing I might occasionally feed my dogs in the bathtub, not often but just so they know it might not always be what they expect.

I am an obsessive dog owner

They were allowed to feed them, and let them out in the garden, but I usually walked them
smile.gif
Odd how walking 4 greyhounds/lurchers at approx 25kg each never bothered me (5'2") whilst 6'3" 17 stone ex-husband used to complain that they were too strong for him
grin.gif
grin.gif

Dogs are great judges of character though, I have twice been with a bloke who turned out to be a complete b*stard, and my dogs didnt like him on either occasion
tongue.gif

Finn looks stunning BTW, and I have that dog bed but in a smaller size for mine
grin.gif

Otto is "our" dog, yet I don't trust OH with him!
grin.gif
OH isn't doggy, although he is far better than he was. I don't like it when they got for walks without me, I am positive OH will lose Otto!
grin.gif

I am fine about them being in the house together alone though, Otto is usually asleep!

Otto doesn't respect him very much though, I know that I could leave my dinner on the floor and he wouldn't touch it (Otto not OH
grin.gif
) but Otto will stick his nose in OH's dinner when it is on his knee!
mad.gif
It's hard enough trying to train Otto, without having to train OH too
grin.gif

I've got some fab pics on my phone of o/h face down fast asleep in the dog's bed with his kitten, while the poor doggy (large rescue rottie) has to make do with the floor... Unfortunately phone won't talk to comp any more so can't post them.

That sounds fantastic - well worth a caption competition.

Is there no way you can transfer, or send them to someone who can.

Would love to see!!!!

Haha thanks hun, Bumble dog would succeed cos Finn would head for the hills - he's such a wimp!! LOL!!

Yup life is on the up hun
smile.gif
YAY.... erm not sure you missed anything on here about OH as I don't come on here much these days.
smile.gif
Got a lovely man - been with him since Nov so all quite new but all very lovely
blush.gif
blush.gif

Well...it's indirectly his fault cos he upgraded my compu, which is what has caused the problem... Every time he upgrades his, I get all his old parts...

Will see what I can do...

Finn is pretty good and does tend to listen to most people - he's OK with OH has a bit of selective hearing now and then!!

But yes I told my OH that he was VERY honoured to be allowed to look after my boy!!

LOL well we're quite early in the 'stages' but I think it's really lovely that he wants to get involved with Finny as Finns my life.. and basically - accept me and my dog (and horse!! haha)

Finn is gorgeous! and clearly loves his bed - can't see him moving for anyone else to try it out!

Thank you - once he's in it he snores for England there is defo no moving him!!!

Finn looks so comfy in that new bed! I keep wanting to buy my dog a new one but have said not before I get mine! (which is hopefully coming soon!).

In response to your question, Old dog I am happy to leave with my family members (in fact anyone that will have her!) if I am away (they can not ruin something that is already!) Plus they all know & love her faults, which helps! Mind some do seem to encourage them!

Quail is a different matter! I will not leave her with anyone! As a pup she came to work with me & slept under my desk allday. When I went away to 3day events she came with us to, bit of a pain but I would not trust to leave her with any of my family. As she is suppose to be a worker, they don't understand this though. Mind I seem to have done a good job of spoiling her!

Though hopefully going abroad this year, so in a right quandary. Do not want to kennel her as she will not toilet in a kennel regardless of how long she is in there.
Am thinking I will have to ask ex to look after her, who is the only person i would trust with my dogs whilst out of the country or away.
As he understands workers (got me into them & picked Quail as pup for me) Plus I am hoping that he may instal some training into her holiday! Wishfull thinking!
