On leather, does it exist?
We have a tackroom full of tack, some which is hardly used and every week I have to wash it to remove the mould. I've tried just washing it in hot water and washing it and putting oil on that waterproofs the leather but the mould still comes back.

ko-cho-line really does work! it's perfect for unused tack. I store all my spare stuff covered with it and wrapped in old news paper. It stops mould and keeps everything really soft.
Is your tack room cold and/or damp though? If it is, the best thing to do (if you can) is store your tack somwhere warm and dry.

Tack room has its only heater. So is lovely and warm in the winter (you can guess where I hide when its cold).
I thought ko-cho-line can stain light coloured tack? I'll try it on the dark stuff.
Thanks

I tried Ka-Cho-Line (whatever its called!) and thought it was awful stuff. Its like a thick gunk but it doesnt soak in at all, just sits on top. So you have to do some serious cleaning to get it all off when you do want to use your tack. When I pack tack away that Im not using, I take it all apart (bridle etc.) clean it really well, then condition it (CDM sprays) then put lots of neatsfoot oil on. Then store it in an old pillow case (or sheet for the saddle) in a big box in our tackroom. Seems to keep ours ok!

Ko-cho-line is weird!

It does soak in eventually(3 months+), but i think thats the point- it stays on the surface of the leather, so stops the spors of the mould from settling and growing.

The best way to remove it is with a hot well wrong out sponge, it just wipes off.

You shouldn't have bad mould probs if your tack room is heated, i don't know what else to suggest.

I have stored all of Amy's tack away now, but dressed it in Kaochlin first.

Mould grows in damp conditions though - so unless you can move your tack to somewhere where there is no damp, then you always have the problem.
