How often do you oil your tack? Do you always oil new tack even when leather is soft? A lady at my yard has told me not to oil my new bridle as I will ruin it!

However, I have always oiled my bridles when I have bought them and apart from the one jiggy trod on

they are all still in good condition!

No never oil anything uless it's going to be stored - saddler advised me against it as can damage stitching. He said just to saddle soap it and apply something like hammanol

Been doing this for ages now and my tack always supples up quickly and lasts well

I oil it after it gets wet or muddy. Esp with older leather, seems to help it.
Rarely oil brand new quality stuff as it doesnt need it but brand new cheap stuff normally does

I've put this on a thread before, but a remedial saddler told me not to oil the underside of the saddle, as the flocking absorbs the oil and goes lumpy.
