Firstly horse is lame, im thinking she done it out the field monday where it was all slippy, a little sweeling round the ankle joint, keeping an eye on that!!

Now i have two other questions, firstly she has got a crack up her hoof i am getting the farrier out to shoe her(annoyingly shes lame at the moment) is there anything that i can do or you think its ajob for him?
Then secondly i've had her for about 5 weeks now, i've noticed that her poo doesn't seem to be in dropping form, its not full on diahrea(spelling) but i'm not sure after 5 weeks why she would still be like this, i didn't worm her because the person i bought her from said they had done it the week before hand, shes eating fine, fine and bright in herself(apart form now lame) any ideas?!

not sure about the hoof, but id worm her with equest or panacur guard for encysted redworm and bots, then equimax her in a month to cover anything else. Have you changed any of her feed as that might have upset her digestive system? Id add pink powders to her feed and feed ad lib hay and see whats she's like after shes been wormed... hope that helps a little....

Firstly I think the hoof is a farrier job no foot no horse and all that but that is my opinion.

Secondly I would worm her, you changed her feed didnt you that might have upset her tummy, I would give her a pre and pro biotic to get her gut flora going again. I feed my mare CLOP which has all sorts of vitamins and minerals as well as the pre and pro biotics and isnt expensive either.

So is this CLOP the same sort of stuff as pink powder or is the CLOP an on going feed substance??

Yeah i was thinking the farrier best to do it and seen as shes on box rest it won't be getting dirty.

Clop is a general suppliment but has all sorts of goodies in it I think probably not exactly the same as Pink Powder though - not use PP so cant comment really.

Is the crack on the hoof that is lame? If so, could be causing the lameness, or may have allowed infection to enter the hoof and cause an abscess.

Right well i think i should differnatly get the womers, i've just been reading up and the CLOP has the oli and all the balanced diet minerals and vits, but i'm thinking maybe the pink powder for a week might be an idea to kick start the digestion again?

if her ankle has swollen i would get a vet out straight away, whe our girl went lame, stagering, we called the vet out and luckily caught in time that she had pulled her suspensory ligament, the ligament that keeps the whole of the hoof together. another horse had the same problem, and they left it for a while, it swelled like a balloon and was torn in two places, she was off work for 3months boxrest, walked for 3 months, trotted for 1 month and cantered for 3, she is now finally allowed to jump 1 ft

Firstly the crack could be due to them being dry so ive found the best thing for the hoofs is naf hoof moist, if you can try and apply it to the insides at leaset once a day and twice if not more on the outsides this will soon stop them cracking. its only due to her being in the stable.
Secondly as for the droppings make sure she is getting enough fibre i.e hay, haylage and plenty of alfa a or equivelant, the other thing that may cause this is the a change in diet. just worm her anyway as the old owners may have incorrectly told you, this may do the trick and you cant over worm a horse anyway. You will soon notice them harden up abit. The other thing that could cause it is the fact she has moved yards and needs to settle in just give it time and she will come normal in another couple of weeks if not consult your vet!
Thirdly as for the lameness walk her either in hand or if she is able to walk ok try riding her for 20 minutes a day in walk then when she eases of try a couple of strides of trot. other than that just put her on bute and hose it three times a day to get the swelling and heat down from the area affected.
Hope this helps x

Yeah i think that doesn't help i mean i no before i got her she was in for at least two weeks stabled but this has occured even though she has been turned out but i will get farrier out and start using some hoof moist on her.
She is on ad lib hay and has molli chaff with her mix twice a day she gets feed, i no that befroe i got her she moved a far bit in a little space coming over from ireland then making a couple of moves so maybe she does need a little longer to settle in, her poo isn't totally runny just not in dproppings, i will however like everyone says worm her again just to be sure.
She is lame in walk so i thought i would walk her up the drive in hand and put her foot in a bucket, (no hose on yard!!!!)

Thank you your advice has reasured me believe it or not!!!

I'd just like to say that the pink powder did work for the pooh plus i did re worm her becuase she was going out with her new field buddy aswell.

The lameness did go so i'm thinking she did just slip

As with the feet im using cornacrescent and hoof moist, but my farrier will be coming out this week so fingers crossed get that sorted!!!
