Very quick and has no doubt been asked thousands of times before but anyway...... my horse is 18 this year (had him 14 years) and i am just looking for suggestions of the best joint supplements available. I think it may be time I started him on something just to help in slowly/reducing the onset of joint probs.

There is nothing wrong with him at present I just feel he takes a tad longer to warm up these days (it's probably just my imagination!). Just thought I should try make things easier for him. He still competes - I have just re-registered him BSJA after a break of about 4 years - so he's still full of it.

I'd prefer to stay away from animal-derived products so would be interested to find out what people have used, what works and what is value for money. Am not keen on cortaflex due to it being drived from mammalian tissue and I don't think the super solvitax of old is still about - so suggestions please!!!?

Thanks!

have a look at the global herbs website, i havent used the joint stuff they have, but have had great sucess with other products from them

my boy is 19 i use no bute or buteless seem to work for him make him more fluid, loose and supple also like the fact you dont have to use it continously also use a lot of stretching exercises

Im sure you can still get super solvitax?
Hilton Herbs Reflex is good, definately. I was feeding that with cider vinegar and cod liver oil in the winter.

My old girl who came back from loan at 17 seemingly quite arthritic was put on D&H 16 plus and she has done very well ever since. It's not particularly joint specific, but certainly designed for 'older people's' needs and apeared to do wonders for her.

Our 27(ish) 7r old cob ex-ride&driver/broodmare who is retired since a bad bout of colic is on Equimins Flexijoint. She has been on for a couple of years now and we certainly noticed the difference at first. She is not obviously stiff now and picks her feet up for farrier with no problem.
