well as you all know i have been having a few problems with my little mare (rearing mostly) last time we tried to go out competing this pretty much summed up our day.

anyway since then i moved yards and she was schooled by a pro rider and we have got her going forward and on the bit (most of the time) worked on her balance and jumping and in 6 weeks she has come on leaps and bounds. we took her out to Quob on sunday and did a couple of classes ( got eliminated in both but that was more my fault than hers, i need to know trust that is a kick her on she isn't going to go up with me or try and kill me!!) i am really happy with how it when she stayed calm in the warm up, didn't rear and jump fantastically. we even jumped 3ft in the warm up without realising it (highest i have ever jumped her before) just a couple of pics of us.

Well she certainly can stand up straight!

It's good to hear when things are going well for anyone - Goodluck and I hope everything carries on improving for the both of you.x

we are both still at the pro yard, so we can learn together. they didn't think she would amount to much when they first saw her but the comment yesterday went along the lines of "where did she get that jump from" she is turning into a really superstar.

at Quob the do build quite daunting fences for an unaffiliated event, but it is all learning we went to leisure the week before for some schooling (they built the course) and it wasn't nearly as spooky.

Wow !!! I posted about that exact rearing pic from your signature pics a while ago , its an amazing picture, not good , but just how the rear was caught on camera so well .

Chestnut in my signature touch wood " used " to love a good rear and then sometimes for good measure would flip us both over completely !! was such an awful phase , i used to be in tears everyday !! it is hard to realise when you are getting there , that they wont go up when you give some leg or ask them to do something they would prefer not to .
he hasnt done it for years now !

So glad you are doing well with your girl , she is very gorgeous . and has a super jump !!!

good luck , hope it continues to improve !!

Interesting to see you've got her in a loose ring and caverson nose band. Do you think this has been the difference? She had quite a bit on in the the OP.

Can't believe how far you guys have come on since that first pic! Well done me thinks

I saw you and Joe in an old issue of Horse mag the other day- hows the old boy doing?

there are alot of things that have helped us, the bit is a neue schele, we also have flexi reins too we tried a lot of different combinations and have decided that for now this is the best one. before she would never allow me to ride in a martigale but she now accepts that which gives me a bit of security if she goes up. she still crosses her jaw which is annoying but we can cope.

Joe is doing very well thank you for asking, little git as always but he is fine
