She's got to be sold as I want to keep my boy, so being brutally honest, what is she worth? And I mean a price where she'll actually sell...

Disclaimer: this is NOT an advert.

I'd get some nicer pics of her- the first one does nothing to flatter her at all sorry!

Put a nice bridle on her (made me wonder why she had a saddle on but no bridle) and take the saddle and pad off. It also makes her neck look really short because of the angle of her head.

She's a lovely girl and will sell!

I'd price her at about 3-4.5k

Ooh, Sorry! I just assumed that they were.

It's not a good time of the year for selling is it?

Where are you advertising her? It's a shame she's not a year older and you could get her out to some shows and such for the smaller classes.

Is there anything local going on that you could take her too? Would she cope with going to the hunt meet? (Not to hunt, just the meet where people can see her.

)
(can you PM me how much she's up for now?)
smile.gif

She isn't yet 3!
I just don't know how you can sell her S, I don't think you've done anything wrong, although I didn't like that headshot in H&H. Personally I wouldn't consider her for another 12 months because of how much it costs me to keep horses round here. I think that's what you're up against. Ernie would be much easier to sell, and I think you'd get more for him, and then you could play with her... just a thought.

Well she's been up for sale all summer and I only had one phone call from a very well known eventers mother but she didn't even come and view in the end anyway.

Yes, I'll PM you now.

Prob is she is at a difficult age and being a chestnut amre (sadly) alot of people will be put off immediately
crazy.gif
I think you have been bang on on price before
frown.gif
Only thing that would definitely get rid would be to drop the price to rock bottom, but I think she is worth more than that and it would eb a shame
frown.gif

At the moment probably 3 K, sorry
frown.gif
I think she is lovely but for me there is still 12-18 months before she could do anything useful plus you have the chestnut mare factor which would stop me viewing anything that wasn't already going under saddle. Personally I think it would be worth your while to keep her for another 12-18 months. They are a bugger to sell at that sort of age unfortunately.

Like the others I agree her age is against her, keep her until next spring, then sell her with a ridden pic.
I think if you removed the saddle pad and put a different style saddle on her more straight cut she would look vastly different.
Looking at her she has a lovely strong body, a real look at me aura but you aren't doing her justice.. (you did say brutally honest remember!)
Plus that bit of mane sticking up made me wonder if she wa an itchy sort..
I'm off before you murder me....
wink.gif

Thanks HH! That isn't an advert piccie though. She doesn't have sweet itch but I can see it would appear she may have, ex OH's horse chewed her mane and tail

Maybe I'll enter her for a sale, I really want to keep my boy but bills don't pay themselves.

Was that aimed at me? I'm not talking about hunting her or jumping her- just getting her out and about so people can see her. Word of mouth can work much better that an advert.

Its a shame that she didnt go back to PAVO this year, she mightve done quite well and that couldve got you a sale.

With these youngsters I think that word of mouth is the most powerfull way of selling. People like Nigel Taylor and Sarah Bullen just have fields and fields full of youngsters growing up (not all homebreds) and they are all bought/sold through word of mouth.

Sorry I just dont know what to say that would help you sell her. Its just her age - and the fact that she is a chestnut mare. Its an impossible age to sell at.

Oh one thing to try would be to have a professional photographer come and do a photo session with her. Plait her up and box her up and take her to someone with a large smart arena, loose school and jump her, and stick the photos up on the web.

I wouldn't use the jumping pic either, you could get a far nicer one than that. Why don't you PM FMM as she knows a lot about showing and might be able to give you a price.

How tall is she? Because I think I found her on another website (when I was just browsing trying to avoid doing the housework) possibly twice- once with ordinary pictures and once with good ones? But with the good piccies she was advertised as a hand smaller- and smaller than she looked, too.

BTW I don't really go round checking up on every post; but I was wondering myself what potential eventers fetch (with a view to breeding one) & she is a very nice young horse and I thought- "Hang on- I've seen you before..."

If it is her, with the good pictures, she looks stunning, but hot and on her toes- so seeing her under saddle next year might make the difference and overcome the chestnut mare bias.

My trouble is, if I bred a young horse anything like this I would have to be reduced to living on crusts and Tesco's Economy Baked Beans before I could bring myself to actually sell it.

Just edited to add an apostrophe

Eh, God & Christmasbee...

I don't think there is anything wrong with her.....except that she is 2! 2 year olds are notoriously difficult to sell, which is why I tend to keep till they are 3 or 4 and have a little bit of ridden miles under their belt.

Good luck whatever you decide - dropping the price is a definite way of making sure of a sale so if you are willing to take a hit, then she will likely go. Price is everything in today's market.

Another thing; what is the wording on her advert? Could the wording be not good?

Took the words right out of my mouth!

She looks really nice and sounds pretty good on paper too. Dont use them pics on her advert, even the jumping one doesnt do her justice.. Like someone else mentioned you need to have really quality tack on her.. Advertise on horsemart...

Agree that you'll have a much better chance of selling her next spring - lightly backed.

Such a lovely, lovely filly. But then you know what I think of her. I think that she is going to be a stunning horse - and you'll regret selling her............

how big is she? what will she make? sire's name?
i wouldn't use that jumping pic in an ad, she's too clueless with her forelimbs (i know she's only 3, but it's not a good style pic), sorry.
she's lovely, just my sort. i adore chestnut mares.

oh please don't sell her you know i love her and i bet you're regret it .
if you have too i would lightly back her and sell in the spring with some good pics of her stood up.

mind i do love ernie too so i can see how hard your decision is.........

Can I ask how much you have her up for? I have have been looking for a short while but all the nice ones seem to be miles way, or just way out of my price range, especially as I said most of the nice ones are so far away so you have to add on the transport costs. also how big is she?
