so, im working my boy on the lunge tonight, walk trot and a bit of canter. everything going ok until i swap sides start to work him and CLONK CLONK CLONK CLONK a big clicking joint noise coming from his back end :( the horse is fit, in regular slow build up work, nothing intense. now im thinking 'thats it! his arthritis has full on kicked in hard core, s**t he is falling apart:rolleyes:' obvs the chiro will be rang quick smart tomorrow morning. i was wondering if anyone has had this happen? he was nearly a write-off as a youngster deemed dangerous and just the 'why are you bothering?' attitude from people. he has chucked himself around over the years. his flight instinct is the extreme. but he is my boy, my love, my soul mate. i love him to the end of time. so saying that if he has to be retired at 10yrs so be it.

thanx in advance :o

Can't help with advice re joint noise, but just had to say he is an absolute stunner - just love the pic.:) Hope you manage to get this sorted. Keep us posted.

Have you every been to an osteopath?

You should hear the cracking noise a human neck makes when it's released could just be that - get the chiro out but sure it will be nothing to worry about.

p.s. he is a very handsome man :)

That clicking could be a tendon that is moving over bone. If not lame then no problem but like the tin man, it might need a bit of oiling.

Also, how is the foot balance? Sometimes, something as simple as a slightly twisted foot or even pelvis can make the hocks click.

Get the chiro out to ease your mind but please don't panic about this (although I'm a fine one to talk!). He is gorgeous and I can understand why he so precious to you. Sending positive chin up vibes to you x

ok breath hun just breath - call chiro out and vet if ness - but breath and try to relax - maybe just normal movement of tendons with him - keep us posted hun please as he is a gorgeous boy :) xxx

thanx so much for your replies :-) he is atm on flax oil to help his joints. i think i will start at the chiro and go from there. he is very pigeon toed on the front and dumm dumm duuuum bare foot. his foot balance is ok BUT we have our farrier coming out tomorro so i will get him to have a look at his feet. bloody horses! found out the other day aswell that my moms 10yr old boy has cushins :-( head firmly in hands. its like we do our very best by them, look after them, go without for them, then bam! it gets so hard to deal with but we must! *sigh* see what the chiro says then go from there.

thanx again for the support and kind words x

I was worried about clicking in my old boy, just like you I panicked.

Vet told me it was just like having an 'air lock' in his joints and the click was the air popping, not sure how air gets into joints, but I get it is like some people can click their knuckles.

Take a breath, and I hope everything will be ok for you
