Love them or hate them and why?

Personally i adore them - IME they are sweet, tough little horses with enough thoroughbred to give them stamina and enough irish draught to give them brains - and i do love a horse with a hefty bit of muscle on them hehe
Saying that my one is particularly dim....

Love em!!! My instructor has two, and if I could choose any type of horse to have it would be an ISH.

(I didn't choose my horse he was given to me but I fancy he is a mini-chunky ISH

I think they are incredibly athletic and love their temperaments.

Love 'em - Usually they are the best of both worlds! Great character, temperment, brain, movement, jump, speed........

Absolutely love them and always have from when I met my first Irish hunters back in the 60s!

This is Bear at 20 months last year; he has grown even more and filled out and is so handsome and kind I'm more than tempted a little to use Maurice again on Bea especially as I've just seen new pic's of him and he is so scrummy with a temperment second to none!

id buy another at the drop of a hat! ours has a fantastic temprament ,got a great jump on him BUT he is as miserable as sin and pulls some evil faces that just get him laughed at...i think he suffers from SANDS ! lol

Am a convert! altho mine looks like a TB and acts like a WB! two friends have Diamond line horses, and another has a Clover Hill boy..4 of us-makes up a team for team chasing!

I love them. I was looking for an ISH/ ID X/ type when looking to buy last year, and ended up with my (apparently) ID X TB. She's more ID than anything, but is SO fantastic! She hasn't got the conformation for anything really but tries her heart out, is so loving and honest and sweet... I could go on forever! Almost all the ID X and ISHs I've met have been lovely. I used to ride a friend's Trakehner X ID who was fab!

Castle is an Irish Sports Horse (no idea how, since he's a pony, but thats what it says on his passport), and he is a great hunter, and is willing to jump anything and everything! I definitely love them!

Our late stallion was by an Id ex an irish TB, and his offspring all jump really well, bold and brave.
The latest Irish horse is Layla, who we are thrilled with, quite the best temperament I have ever seen in my life, and so trainable.
Although we also have a Belgian x TB stallion I would hate to breed every part of the Irish bit out, I reckon even a 12th makes a difference to brain power and surefootedness.

Do you consider the warmblood x Irish to be a true ISH? In my opinion they should be ID x TB of various amounts. My youngster is one, shes by a stallion called Ala Hounak (anyone heard of him?) out of a King of Diamonds mare.
Shes lovely, wonderful personality. Before her I had a Clover Hill mare and she was a complete nutter, I have since heard thats quite common with Clover neds, any thoughts?
(Used fastreply, not aimed at anyone!)

Have ridden a couple of horrid irish horses but there are bad examples of every breed/type.
In general I think theyre a great type, but for me the more tb the better to dilute the ID part!!

I love irish horses, of the ones i have owned and the two i own now, they are certainly characters and have a good sense of humour too!!

Irish horses are my faves.

Tough, intelligent breeding that makes them super allrounders. There are a few rotten ones out there but with any breed, there always will be.
