what do blokes wear when horse riding??

ive already discovered that jeans are not the most comfortable things when sat on a horse but i refuse to wear jodpurs!, there is nothing worse than a man in tights!

also every where ive looked at so far with regards to riding lessons seems to have a weight limit of fifteen stone, i can understand that but im six foot and sixteen stone, am i going to struggle to find some riding lessons or am i just not looking hard enough??

and how much should i be looking to pay for lessons??

The riding schools I have looked at charge between £35 and £50 for an hours private lesson. It would be slightly cheaper for group or semi private lessons. You could always visit riding schools and have a chat about your needs and see what you come up with. My OH and I did that and we had no problems sorting something out. As for the jods, unfortunately jeans are not designed for riding (however, I can ride in them) so you might have to take the plunge

I wear breeches that are loose-fitting on the thighs, with pockets, and pleated at the front - if worn with long boots/half-chaps it looks fine in the context of being on a horse yard. You might not choose to wear it to the pub, but then I'm happy enough to do even that after a day at the yard.

IMHO clothes for riding should be practical ahead of fashionable.

There will be places with higher weight limits, but you'll probably need to call them and discuss it with them as others have said. It's probably a matter of ringing round and seeing what answers you get.

Also it will depend on how balanced you are, as a horse can carry a heavier balanced rider more easily than a lighter unbalanced rider so as you get better you should find it easier to find horses to fit you!

I have ridden at schools that had ex-police horses which could have carried you easily (sadly in Lancashire!) so they are out there
