I've entered my 2 year old BEAST!!! into a hunter in hand class (ok it was either hunter or welsh or mountain and moorland! And whilst he's none of them being a warmblood cross, I thought hunter was the closest match!!) We're doing it for experience, Pity they didn't have a sport horse in hand class! oh well, soooooo my questions are for the none showing person!! (done ridden showing but not in hand!) what should i wear myself? I don't want to be forking out lots as I don't intend on doing many of these, just want to get him out so that when he's under saddle out at dressage comps it won't blow his mind!! This show is like a small version of a county show, with livestock, cars, horses, fair, basically everything going on with a grand parade ring etc!! So it'll be mmmm interesting shall we say as to how he'll behave!!! Bridle wise, do I need a specific in hand bridle or can I use a standard cavesson bridle? Does the nose/brow bands have to be flat or can they be raised? Havanna or Black (horse is chestnut) Cheers for any help peeps!

I would say havana or brown in-hand bridle, with flat, hunter-type browband and noseband. The best way to show your horse's movement off is usually considered to be to wear a contrasting colour to his legs, yourself, so if he has dark legs, wear light-coloured trousers, with short boots. You should look smart and work-man like, particularly in a hunter class. Shirt, tie and tweed jacket with a hat should do the trick.
I would wear a hard hat, as recently an exhibitor in a youngstock class at a show near us died when her horse reared and caught her head with a hoof.

Good luck!
