Right the Hugh/Jame chickent thing has got me thinking.

Not going to do the BARF thing as just don't have time, energy etc.

But currently feed the seven cats - Felix and the dogs are fed Naturediet chicken based foods. Also cats have whiskers biscuits and dogs have barkers biscuits - that they never eat!!!

So how do I find out if the chicken used if free range - and if not what to I feed them. The dogs will only eat this naturediet stuff - they wont even eat the james wellbeloved stuff that looks very similar.

Gaaaah - this trying to be ethical about meat can get complicated can't it.

I can't believe that they would use free-range chicken in cat food (but I may be wrong)

Applaws (cat and dog food) is organic and hormone free - and supposed to be good... but not sure if chicken is free range?

It says this about their cat food:

8 different flavors
No artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives
Gluten-free and no vitamin additives
75 % meat content
Hormone-free and natural-fed chicken, dolphin-friendly sea-caught fish

for some reason I could only find this link here rather than their own page..

Nature diet does include quality chicken - but no idea how it is raised... more info here but maybe email them to ask?

This company does food which comes from battery free chickens:

as does burns: http://www.burns-pet-nutrition.co.uk/product_range.htm

does that help?

Just like to say on behalf of BARF that getting a chicken carcass out of the freezer or fridge doesn't require an a lot of time, effort or planning, no more so than opening a packet of whatever. Espically so when I see the benefits it gives to the dogs.
