After pretty much deciding that my friend and I are going to look for a box.....

I can't even find anything I REALLY would like to go and see :(

Budget is 5k
3.5t
Capable of taking a 16.1
12 months MOT preferred

I am in East Angular but very close to East Mids border...

Help? Husband buttering is going well, he is very 'content' at the moment and I will continue with this approach :)

Those are horrendously unstable (the transit type with the Ifor back)

That was my concern :( ok, I think the reading I have done is enough to put me off. I don't know anyone who has had one you see, so you guys are so helpful!

Really want to find something like the first box that Lady posted, but not 250 miles away!

We, you may have to travel unfortunately but, what you're best off doing is finding a few in the similar area and just make a day of it. There seem to be more over the Northwest - there was another nice one in Cheshire I think I saw?

You wouldn't have to get a 7.5T if you got the licence but it would mean you would be able to look at the slightly bigger ones - ie 5 and 6 tonne lorries that are a similar style to the ones you are wanting.

I would avoid the ones like you've posted - they look far too top heavy. You'd be better in the van type ones like this

(although again, personally I don't like them as just can't fathom how a big horse fits in! Lol)

see a 5.5T is not much more expensive but there are more between 3.5T and 7.5T out there I find.

I have driven the type like the second one Ladyt posted and it was ok. I drove it in horrendous sow conditions with a 16hh TB in the back. Ventilation can be inadequate but you can always add more vents.

Ps the second one on her first post I meant!

Can you tell I don't have much to do this evening! ;) Really should just go to bed.

I can see how the Ifor/transits would be unstable. The rear is so bloomin' high! Ok, they're scrapped. Perhaps I could persuade my friend that a day trip to Clwyd is necessary. That box certainly looks like it's worth the money in comparison to what's out there.

I really like the look of those boxes like the orange one you posted, but it does make me laugh when I see horses in them because they are so much like a regular van (iykwim) and yes - weird thinking of a bigger horse in there! Thanks so far :)

I have driven the transit with the Ifor and was not impressed. The storage is high up, not much fun getting water carriers up there. Also the only place to get changed is the front of the horse bit not easy to change breeches and boots without getting your socks icky! It felt top heavy too, I wouldn't have wanted more than one horse on either.
