My main superstition are magpies, I ALWAYS salute a single magpie. I don't tend to pay too much attention to the "green is a bad luck colour" one though.

And I do like it when a black cat crosses my path.

So what one's do you take notice of/ignore?

Sorry don't have any superstitions, boring i know but i believe you make your own luck.

Needless to say i have a friend that is superstitious about everything, she has me in histerics, she's always mumbling something she really makes me laugh sometimes.

Mr dad won't walk past a blackthorne bus on the left side of him as he say's it brings bad luck and up sets the fairey's.

Ahhh the tales of the Irish don't you just love em

I used to think it was bad luck to change a horses name but having moved to the Netherlands they think the Brits are crazy for doing that and their horses change names on a regular basis. So my new girl got a new name (plus her old one was the same as my Mum's which just didn't seem right).

But I do salute single magpies, won't walk under ladders, touch wood and won't put an umbrella up indoors. And I always thought it was new shoes you couldn't put on the table, but I don't do that either.

OMG, I didn't think I was superstitious but think I'm going to have to reassess that statement!

ok I have a few thanks to my Nan, One magpie = bad luck more than one is goodluck.
No shoes on the table or umbrellas up inside, Dont pass the salt, if you bang one elbow you have to bang the other! these are all ones i follow.

Nan also used to not pass on the stairs and if she went out and forgot something she would have to sit down and count to ten when she came back in the house before she retrieved what she forgot. she woudlnt go anywhere in a green car either! All very silly but entertaining!

I don't cut my finger nails on a wednesday - I blame Jenni Murray for that one - they did an item on Women's Hour about superstition, saying it was thought to be bad luck and I haven't cut my nails on a Wednesday since.... And don't step on cracks in the pavement, either.

very silly...:)

I always say the magpie rhyme depending on how many I see and I salute and spit for one magpie (when I say spit its not actually spitting!!!).
I never walk on 3 drain covers that are together on the pavement...I dont actually know why tbh!!!!
I touch wood...and it has to be wood...not my head (it bugs me when people do that cos i think...nooooo its not real wood, it wont count!!!)
My mum-in-law bought me a 'money plant' saying if you have one in the house you come in to money...its done nothing for me so far tho!!!

If someone else and me say the same thing I always say 'jinx'...something else I just do without really knowing why!!!

Something modern that I am totally NOT superstitious about is those chain-emails where they tell you that you will be unlucky if you don't send it on to x number of your friends - I work on the basis that if I send them to my friends, I won't have any left after a while

I think that the number 13 is unlucky... yesterday I went to an indoor hunter trial and had the number 13 - oh noooo!!!!Guess what - I got eliminated for forgetting the course.....I rest my case!!

I salute a single magpie, won't walk under ladders, no umbrellas up inside, and something about spilling salt I chuck it over my shoulder but always get confused as to which hand and which shoulder!!! Not very good at doin them sometimes!!!
I think friday 13th might actually be lucky for me though, which is a bit scary!!!

I throw stones at magpies to make them bugger off, horrible things. They aren't getting a salute from me. I have two annoying fat black cats that constantly cross my path, is that lucky or unlucky?

I throw salt over my left shoulder, though, its the only even vaguely superstitious thing I do.

saluting magpies, and being polite to them... they always get a greeting! touching wood, and not changing horses' names... horses are unlucky and accident prone enough as it is!
i won't wear anything brand new for competing either, has to have been worn at least once.
