Horses on our yard are split into two groups...call them A and B.

I have always been in A...horses have changed over the years....mostly big horses, a few bad-tempered bolshy ones. owners are older (30's - 40's- like me) - includes a couple of yard 'experts'....horses tend to be over-fed, over weight and under exercised. They talk the talk about putting out hay/water but I found out recently that its a load of bull. Very bitchy/back-stabbing group. Poo-picking gets done but loads of spying on each other and tale telling.

Group B....younger group- mainly teenagers. Lots of giggling, very little falling out/bitching. They are crap at putting out hay/water but they don't pretend otherwise. Poo-picking can be a trauma...YO always having to nag them. Horses smaller/younger...playful but not aggressive.

Which group would you rather be in ...and why?

If the only real issue is the poo picking or w.e if they're a nice bunch that aren't bitchy or w.e, im sure if you talked to them they'd come around and get in gear without too much of a fuss

Hmm tricky one. All of my instincts say B however you could end up being the 'sensible' one who also ends up being the 'mug' and doing the hay/water/poo picking all of the time. Being young and carefree is wonderful however there is a reason we all grow out of it - namely because we recognise our responsibilities

If I had to be on the yard, I would be in C - keep to myself and do my own thing (and probably be talked about by A and B)

Lol...yes, .I have adopted this approach for the last few years....but its got to the piont where I've had a couple of rows with members of A over issues, but theres so much two faced-ness its unbelievable. People may not always like what I say, but its always in favour of the horses, and I say the same thing to everyone.

As for being the sensible mug...well, I already am! So no change there....but I have just changed groups and group A can't understand why I would want to, as they think they a cut above group B (pathetic really, but there you go)......although I am pushing 40 myself I don't look/act it and I think I will get on better with the younger group rather than the other miserable gits

I definitely think you have done the right thing, I hate conceited people let alone back stabbing, bitchy conceited people with fat horses

hmmm tricky one, well I guess I'd have to choose the group where it works best for my horse, as the people are less important specially if just a pain in the ar*se with each other all the time.

I'd do my fair share and leave them to it and not have anything to do with them, they can't back stab and be bitchy if your not even having anything to do with them, if they don't know your business, they can't put their 10p worth in, so won't have too much to say about you etc.

Group B ok but then again you don't want have to sound like a nag or have to mother them all the time to do stuff look and after their horses because no doubt you'll see things that will annoy you, were were all young once and did silly things and our care and knowledge improves as we get older and wiser, so you might need to bite young tongue every so often but if you can do that, then group B.

Going down to your yard should be pleasant experience, having a laugh with people and enjoying their company, it's what gets us all through the winter and all the boring chores.

Kenzo.....yes- the main number one reason I moved is that my horse was being bullied in the field...badly...he was being hounded by 3 in particular so I spoke to YO and we thought he would be better off in the other group. The other stuff is really a bonus...I put up with it and kept out of the way for a long time, which I can still do - how the yard is organised I have my own little row of stables and feedroom.

Dont worry, I'm not about to become the group nag , I do enough of that at home lol....
