I've never booted any of my ponies for hunting, they've all had nice thick chunky cob legs with lots of hair, and boots have just never been a consideration... however... apparently according to my physio guy my pony as a 'tight' tendon which is causing a slight click in her knee and I'm now worrying about her legs, so was thinking, at least for the big jumping days, of getting her some tendon boots?

I have next to no money at all so can't afford incredibly expensive ones really, but what would everyone recommend for giving her a bit more support without causing problems with slipping/rubbing - if they slip I really will be in trouble as there is no way on earth I would ever be able to get off and adjust them mid hunt - not without ever being able to get back on again!! :)

Thanks for the help as always guys!!

I don't know about tendon boots for hunting. If you decide to get some, I would get some which arn't open fronted, as that it just as advert for mud rubs. I think you need to choose something that doesn't absorb much moisture, a lot of people wear those sports wraps from our hunt, which IMo is so silly, because they are guarenteed to slip down. When I do boot on big days I use the double locking WW brushing boots and I have never had any problems with them. there are some cheap and very decent boots here: http://www.premierequineinternational.com/acatalog/horse-boots.html
I use them for Wills hunting and they are super, nice cool, dry legs.

I hate the thought of any kind of boots for hunting, and I think I would only wear them when we go out with the bloodhounds or the drag (which I am in the next couple of weeks) as thats when we will be jumping big - the thought of a full days foxhunting with boots worries me too much!! Will the WW brushing boots give her the support she needs?

Tendon boots aren't really designed to give support - they are to stop a horse striking into itself. I haven't had much to do with boots for a while, but when my old horse had done a tendon he wore medicine boots - i.e. the ones that cover the whole fetlock and lower shin/tendon. If you put them on properly with tape they don't slip. I'm not convinced they work though... he did another in them. :(

I'd keep bare legged - brushing boots will do nothing to support her tendons at all! They might protect them a little, from a strike, but give no support - that isn't what they are designed to do!

Prolite front boots - thats what I hunt mine in they have agreat tendon support - but very pricey!

They are excellent though and last ages :)
