how much would you pay
(1) a friesian filly by dries 421 x piter 312, 1yr , handled fps registered and has passport and papers , has been graded and was given 3e primie , vacc
(2) a 11 month colt by fitse 349 x olof 315 ,well handled , fps registered with papers and passport

would you geld or try to sell as a colt

I dont know what the current market is TBH, but as a reference i paid £3400 for my girl as a yearling (3 years ago), by Brandus 345 out of a STER mare by Jakob 302. Not FPS registered at the time i bought her, no passport or papers and not vaccinated. Friendly but not overly handled (didnt know about lifting feet or walking in hand really), but had a wonderful temperment, willing attitude, nice conformation and really good movement.

As yours has already been registered and passported that will save the new owners about £200 (i think i paid that, possibly a little bit more, cant remember exactly!) and is vaccinated, graded etc etc so i think you could reasonably expect about £3500 given that the economic climate is somewhat worse than it was when i bought my mare!

I think colts tend to go for a little bit less?? Thats generally what i've noticed. So maybe about £3000 for him?

Im not really sure but hopefully this will have bumped it up for those who are currently buying and selling and have more of an idea :D

Fillies do tend to go for more in the friesian world, what is her mother line like? Lots of sters? A few yrs ago I would have said £4k but in the current climate I'm not sure how much friesians have lost their value. I would try £3500 and see what happens.

As for the colt a little less but dont geld him. Leave that for ppl to decide, someone may want to breed from him. A while ago I posted that I couldnt sell my dartmoor colt. Ppl sreamed at me to have him cut. I didnt (thank-fully) as the person who did buy him wanted him entire to breed from.

In their favour though they are registered and you see alot of **** examples (un-registered) being sold at silly prices but then on another hand my friend has just bought a WB foal from exceptional lines for £3k.

If you do want to get rid of them cheaply though, let me know ;) Lol!
