I'm in the process of refurbishing my winter riding wardrobe and badly need some warm riding gloves. Which are the warmest ones? I'd love them to be waterproof too. Are the Sealskinz ones as good as they appear to be? Also heard good things about the Mark Todd winter gloves - any views?

I suffer from extremely cold hands in the winter (well, actually from about October to March!) I tried the Mark Todd ones and found they really didn't keep my hand warm enough plus they were tight around my slightly stumpy fingers!

I now have Heritage Extreme gloves and they are wonderful. Quite hard to get hold of, as they are Amercian but well worth it, in my opinion! Not as thick as they look, so you still have good rein feel. Very warm and waterproof too.

Here are some on eBay:

The Mark Todd gloves are brilliant, I always have cold fingers and they were really warm, and not too thick to ride in.

I have the worst circulation and so my fingers are always really cold (seriously always verging on blue :()

I love the Mark Todd ones!

Surgical gloves :p
I wore surgical gloves most of the winter under my normal leather gloves, or insulated leather gloves..... No more numb fingers! :p Also stopped my leather gloves from absorbing the sweat from my hands (my hands sweat no matter how cold they feel?!) which was great, because cold, sweaty gloves really are NOT nice :o ;)

Had the same prob last winter, I managed to stay warm with fleece gloves and silk liners underneath. Not managed to get the warm AND dry bit sorted yet though, so shall watch this thread with interest! I also tried neoprene gloves over the liners, but because they were a little restrictive my hands got really cold.

They are Ariat Insulated Tek Grip gloves and were £30 not 20 - sorry!:)

Thanks Slinky - will definitely check these out as I am a confirmed Ariat fan as far as their other products are concerned.

Looks like the Mark Todd may be an option too and I think I will get a pair of the Sealskinz for wet days.

Thanks everyone - advice and views very much appreciated, as always!
