Old dog, odd behaviour
My old boy is acting oddly of late.
1. He eats anything. Hes always had a good appetite but these days he constantly sniffing around looking for food. Its not always food he eats either, over the last few months he has consumed half a bar of soap (would have ate it all if I hadnt caught him) my mothers nicotine gums and last night burst open a can of body spray (puncture holes from his teeth) after breaking into my work bag .
2. Wandering around at night. He used to sleep like the dead but not anymore. His sniffing is worse at night and while he does sleep he is generally much more active than during the day. He wanders around and around sniffing and panting and its driving me insane!
He generally gets me up at least once a night sometimes more and while he does sometimes need the toilet other times I think he just wants to stroll around the garden.
He has bad arthritis and has recently started taking PLT tablets which are working wonders for him. He does seem worse re the above since taking them but then it might be because they are giving him more energy. It's hard to pin point when this behaviour first started but looking back there have been subtle changes for a while.
He had a full bloods run and all came back normal.
Any ideas? He is well and happy in himself. Loves his walks and takes an interest in life.
