I have about 20 or so old horsey text books. A lot of the advice is no longer relevant or considered correct, but I loved reading them when I was a teenager, especially the 1950s ones with anecdotes of 'When I was in the army.." etc. I hate throwing books away, but they are just taking up space. Most of them are too old to have barcodes, so no good for ziffit or similar. Anyone have any ideas for finding them a home?

Me too. If after you've got rid of yours can you let me know and I'll say about mine but I don't want to step on your toes.

How about taking them to an antique shop?
People love to remember and learn about the older days of horses (I do!!!)

I was in an antique store a few years ago and was flicking through an old horse care book from decades back.
The photo still sticks in my memory of the horse illustrating the Preparing the horse to Travel section.
It was a bay TB type horse with a string anti sweat rug under a folded back Witney blanket. An elastic surcingle with an old sponge under to protect the spine. The ribbons of the tail guard tied under surcingle and bandages over gamgee with leather knee and hock boots. All in a navy and red theme.
The picture was beautiful and there's something about these old books with these old photos that just appeals to me and probably lots of people.

I'm sure there's older forum members on here that would have remembered this image in this book as part of their own horse care from those days.
