Hi, wondering if anyone can help. I've recenty started driving my 4 year old Section A Welshie (as a means to justify having him around), and the time has come to decide what to do about protecting his little footsies against the tarmac. (I have 3 competition horses that I shoe already and don't want to shoe him if there are any other alternatives) - he and the driving have become my hobby, so he will be driven a max of 4 hours a week, time allowing, I don't think his foot will grow enough or be strong enough to leave. So, my question is, has anyone had any experience of using any of the horse boots, on an 11h2 pony, particulary for driving? I also have a 3 year old A that I intend to break to harness and hope to use the boots - if appropriate - for him too. (they'll be in a single harness.) TA!

I dont know anything about carriage driving but my horse has a full set of old macs that he wears for everything in the winter as hes barefoot.
He schools, hacks, gallops, jumps and everything in his and there brill, def worth having

I would think a native would cope 4hrs a week barefoot tbh, I'd see how he goes. I've never come across a driving horse that was booted, known of a couple barefoot but no direct experience. I don't see why boots would affect him adversely though, driving horses often are better balanced than a riding horse so less likely to stand on himself anyway.
