Old Pathe newsreel.

British Pathe News is fab for clips of old shows and showjumpers from the 1930s on. Someone should put them on a DVD.

Hmm now there's a thought! I was born in the 50's but I love seeing all the really old clips, the tack and the riding clothes...people were still using and wearing them them when I was a child, all the old 'old style' folk. Nobody ever seemed to ride scruffily, the women always wore hacking jackets and lipstick and the men were very polite and well turned out, they used to raise their hats..bowlers or trilbies, and said Good Morning.

I think this is the one you are looking for. It's wonderful.
Can anyone identify the horses?

No, that's not it. The one I remember had people riding the Arabs.

I don't know anything about Nasik but Skowronek is a very well know Arabian forefather.

Raseem is my Obi's great, great, great, great, great grandfather.

It was lovely to see a relative - thank you so much!

Yes he looks a bit lame behind. He did retire to stud sound though & only finished his racing due to war being declared, otherwise he would probably have taken the Triple Crown.
Can't think what's up with him, but he was known as a pretty sound horse who got very sound stock. I read somewhere that show jumping & eventing riders in the 1950s looked out for Blue Peters as they were so sound, correct & strong.

It took me a while to learn. Just right click on address in bar (at very edge) & highlight copy, then right click in the post & highlight copy.
looking forward to seeing the clips!

Wonderful! Nice to see so many "No's" that would drive people to distraction nowadays: No numnahs, hats, groundlines, fat horses (or people), and yet still riding and jumping well. Amazing!
