Old Pony books

Hello!

Can anybody remember a book which was probably written in the 70's or 80's and had a pony in it that was a cremello and didn't look the best and ended up being a really good pony? I know it's not much to go on but it's bugging me lol

The oy one I can think of is Patricks Pony but he wasn't cremello
