old pony foaming at mouth??

My old pony has a parrot mouth so has never had great ability to eat and dribbles quite a bit, but she does keep her weight on and never seems to cause any problems.
However recently when tied up or even in the stable just standing she is starting to foam and blow bubbles!!
Her teeth were checked in the spring and although she is old they were good quality and seemed to all be even...
Im just wondering if anyone knows the cause of this...?

I've had this happen with a couple of ponies, one late teens, one 6 years old. It eventually cleared both times after a week or two. Nothing was obviously the cause of it and apart from the dribble/foam there was nothing else apparetly wrong with them, they didn't lose condition etc and remained in good spirits.

We came to the conclusion that either it was something stuck in between a tooth or a prickle thingy had punctured and got stuck somewhere in the mouth or tongue.

The younger one did need his teeth doing again 6 months after the last dental, which was a bit surprising, the old boy had 6 month dentals anyway.
We (that includes the vet) never did really get to the bottom of it...

My boy started doing this a few weeks ago when eating his hayledge - it looked very worrying as there was loads of foam around his mouth and dripping on the floor - we thought he probably had something prickly in his gums and it stopped after a couple of days, although it was only when he ate hayledge.
