Right here goes, a bit of a pointless thread really, just curious. I rode for many years and worked in three yards before stopping for about 10 years to have kids etc.. having got back into it in the last 2 years i've noticed that 1 or 2 things are done differently now. Only little things, for example, I was alwys taught that after doing up the girth you must always pull the leg forward to stop getting any skin trapped underneath it. I've noticed that this is something that people don't seem to do any more. Is it just because string style girths are rarely seen now. Just pondering!!!!

I don't do it. But only because I've taught my mare to do it herself if I point to her legs! She knows to swap legs too.

It's not that I'm that lazy really, jus that she was out of work for a while a few years ago and I taught her a load of pointless things from the ground instead of riding her.
