My apologies for doing another post which has probably been done before but when I search for 'old riding hat' it says the words 'old' and 'hat' are too short...

What do you do with your old hats? I know the answer is probably bin them as no-one will want a second hand hat due to potential damage etc. It's a champion skull size 4 and it's pretty worn and has been fallen in. I wouldn't dream of selling it and I don't really wantt to give it away for riding purposes either.

I'm considering making a garden feature of it but not sure I will be able to drill through it to create drainage?

I wouldn't consider selling it or giving it away for riding, because of the likely damage it could have got. Could you put it in the tip? You could try drilling it, but it might fall apart

The nesting idea is such a FAB idea!! Don't feel guilty Pansymouse!

Unfortunately though, I have no hedgerow! :( None in the garden and I'm not at a yard at the moment. Don't suppose any of you will want to put it in your hedgerow?

Why not take it out in the car with you - and do a random spot of kindness to small birds - by shoving it in a hedge somewhere? :biggrin3:

I like this idea! But, will I look weird/get told off if caught? :/ I will spend the rest of the afternoon thinking of a suitable hedge!
