old worn leather, how to

i dont look after my saddle very well and want to make it look sparkling for thursday but it has lost colour in some places and wondered how best it is to bring the colour back and make my saddle look fabulous once again (might want to PX it so it needs to be looking tiptop!)

any snazzy ideas guys?

I took my Black Albion to have a minor repair. It is quite old now. Around the edges the black is getting lighter. The saddler told me the household cavalry use boot polish to restore the colour.

I use boot polish on mine. If you have a brown saddle though make sure you choose a matching shade of polish as there are a few brown ones in the shops and if you pick the wrong one it will show up.

Hydrophane and flexalan will both darken leather and restore it

The other trick is slathering on effax balm and use a hair drier gently to encourage absorption

I wouldn't use boot polish unless you are a fan of stained joddies!
