Does anyone know what would help to protect or strengthen old wound areas?
My horse has managed to slightly re-open a wound that has been healed for around 10 months. Just hoping for some ideas what might help this from happening again

I would suspect that there is a fragment still inside the wound if it is re-openeing after 10 months.

I have known it happen 3 times.
Once was a little pocket of infection that needed to come out, after about 3 months.

Once was a stitch that had been missed as it had been stitched in layers. The inner layer was supposed to dissolve, but it seemed like one permanent stitch had been put in on the inside layer. It opened up, the stitch was visible, it was removed and the wound closed again no issue.

The third was a horse who had been in a car accident. It had been healed for over a year, but opened up again to reveal a fragment of car headlight. Once it was removed, the wound healed again.

Same here. Robins dissolvable stitches didn’t dissolve. The end poked through the wound. Vet said to pull tight and snip as close to wound as poss. I had to do this 3 or 4 times and I’m guessing led to the very slow healing.
