Just wondered if anyone can advise on how to get hold of these for my mare?? I've tried using the general contact form on the website and also emailing a woman individually but no response- when I contacted them regarding change of ownership on passport they were very quick to reply so not sure if there is some other way I'm supposed to find them! Also, once I have them is there anyone that can help me interpret them? I'm trying to gather as much info on her as possible before potentially advertising her for loan and know very little about breeding and even less about grading!

Thanks in advance.

Hi Stacey

Thanks for the reply, I'd like the grading scores to use as part of my decision as to whether she should be used as a broodmare and also to help her get the best possible home, breeding the best possible foals if thats the route I decide to go down. Her ridden carrer has sadly ended and as she is only 9 I'm trying to work out what is best for her- she can either be a field ornament or if she would be a valuable addition to someones breeding programme then that would probably be the best route for her. I'd love to breed myself but sadly dont have the time, expertise or facilities to do so.

Thanks again x

I did a post a while ago about her sire, sevillano xx who I believe is a fairly good dressage stallion and her dams side is predominantly hannoverian including San Carlos, San Fernando, Arthy, Don Carlos, Loewen As, Lugano II and Ehrenschild. As her name is prefixed with Hauptstutbuch and ends in H it means she has been graded and into the main studbook (from what I can work out on the website!) so I wondered what her scores were to see if she would be useful in a breeding programme.

Re what she has done, unfortunately not a lot, when she was ridden she always got very good comments about movement etc but her injury made riding sporadic. The vet that advised me to give up the riding side and explore the breeding said that she had very good conformation and that she would be more than capable of carrying a foal to a reasonable sized stallion as she is narrower than others. I've also seen her jump over a 5 bar gate from a standstill! I appreciate that her lack of competition performance may affect peoples desire to breed from her.

Any thoughts? x

no of course it wont !!! if she has good confirmation and breeding then i wouldnt worry !!

she sounds lovely - was she graded as a foal if so you could have her graded again - unfortunately you have just missed the Annualy inspections though !!

i can give you the name of the woman in Uk who deals with the Oldenburg grading though

I'm not sure when she was graded- not sure where to find that in her passport?! Hopefully when I manage to get her scores it will tell me her age too. I didnt realise you could get them re graded! That's a really good idea- if you could let me know the details that would be fab

Thanks too for the positive comments, she is very special (although I am a bit biased!)

yes there is an inspection normally in September/October every year of all the foals and they do mare gradings - my mare needed to be graded into the stud book as i had an oldenburg foal this year !!!

i would keep emailing till you get a response or just call

Best thing to do is to contact Lois Allard direct as she is the Oldneburg UK rep. PM me for contact details as she should also have all the grading resulst to hand wherever the mare was graded (as they will be in the Oldenburg Verband records) and she will also be able to interpret them for you.

As she will have been graded at probably 3 or 4, I dont think you need to worry about taking her for grading again. I am sure you will find a loan home for her as a broodmare as she does have an interesting if slightly old fashioned pedigree, and if she has good conformation to back it up you should be fine finding her a home.

Thanks volatis- I hope thats the case, just need to find the best place possible for her.

ESHjess- I'm afraid I'm a total technophobe! I have pics but no idea how to post them!
