Does anybody own one or can tell me anything about the breed and charcteristics?
A friend of mine is looking at buying one as a general hack, and some pony club for her 12 year old daughter.
Any info would be great,
Thanks

I did go and look at one when I was looking to buy another one and he was lovely, just didnt have enough character for me!
Seemed very sane and sensible though and did pretty much everything I asked. Very pleasent horse, just not for me!

I will have one in a few days (its not born yet) from what ive seen they are nice sensible horses but you never know until you get there really !!! depends on the training they have etc

I understand that the Holstein is a descendant from the Oldenburg, known for their jumping ability, correct me if im wrong, just read it somewhere

why not buy a nice british horse instead <sigh>

(unless it's a british bred oldenburg of course.........<grin>)

Lots of horses are registered oldenburg but not of a breed type. For instance we have a horse by Baloubet du rouet but he was bred in germany and his dam is oldenburg and he is branded as an oldenburg but could probably be registered as a selle francais etc.
