i was thinking about having a lesson at oldencraig but wanted to see if anyone had been there and had a lesson.What did you think have you been back.you can take your own horse or ride one of ther schoolmasters i didnt no which to do so might ride one of theres first and she how it goes then think about taking Amber.if you have been what instructer did you have theres someone there could Vicky Tompson who is ment to be really good.

Twinkle I have been there and had a lesson with Vivky on one of her schoolmasters.

I'm an advanced level rider, so we worked on mostly half passes, a bit of canter pirous, and my position.

Vicky was well worth it, and when I can afford to go fairly regularly I will.

She worked me very hard (plus I haven't ridden for a few months) and I couldn't walk for a week!!

It was a windy day, and there was a bit of mis-communication, whereas I couldn't here what she was saying sometimes and she took it as though I was ignoring her! but we sorted that out and she was very thorough and nice to deal with.

The horse wasn't to bad, but he certainly wasn't one that would be given to a novice wanting the 'feel' but in saying that I don't know what you're level is or the other horses that are there.

My friend recently had a lesson with Vicki Thompson on one of her schoolmasters, she said it was fab and Vicki was really good. She's going back at Christmas for a two-day stint as she enjoyed it so much!

I have lesson on my youngester there every 2 months, with a instructor call aaron. I don't go that regularly because it is expensive and i always have lots to work on at home. They aslway work you very hard. But my horse has improved so much it's well worth.

Plus the schools are fab

Both me and my sister have had lessons there. We both rode one of their schoolmasters, Charlie and we had a lesson with Teresa. Both the lessons were fantastic and it really gave you a chance to 'feel', really helped when I came back to riding Otto. I would definitely recommend it, and if I had more money I would be there every week!

Theresa is an excellent teacher and also a trainer of horses. Can't rate her highly enough

Vicky is just the best though - she is so patient and such a kind, nice person and isn't stuffy about 'ordinary' horses that aren't specialist dressage horses.

Their schoolmasters are often getting on a bit and therefore have to be ridden correctly but certainly give you a good feel for the movements

As above. You are worked quite hard. Expect oodles of sitting trot and also to continue an exercise until you get it right - both yourself and with your riding of the horse.

Other instructors are since my time there.

If you don't mind the weather the outside schools are nicer to ride in 20x60 than the indoor - which is 20x40 and if you don't have it to yourself (maybe another lesson or maybe horses being schooled/trained) can get a bit more crowded.

If you take your own horse there then make sure it's duck/goose/swan proof if you have a lesson in the back arena where the lake is )

Opps, spelt Theresa name wrong, she's not going to like me!

She was fantastic instructor though and yes Charlie is a little bit older (in his 20s) but boy could that horse move! Never sat on anything like it, the walk to canters where just wonderful!

Slight deviation from this but does anyone have any experience of the livery down there?

We're relocating down that part of the world in the new year and it was one of the places I was considering for livery. The problem is, when you arent based in area, its very hard to get to know places on their reputation
