Hi, I'm new here, and I've been having an itch that my brain just can't scratch and was hoping for some advice. **note, i have had two vets out for this seeming issue.
My gelding, Cash, is a 18-20 ish year old gelding. I purchased him last year and since then have had him x-rayed and wellness checked twice. i have put him on Equioxx due to arthritis in his back left hock. His type of arthritis has calcification, and causes the joint to be larger and slightly differently shaped than his other hock. This year, i recently noticed that Cash has been resting his hinds perhaps more than usual. He often flicks his ears back, (not pinning them, more like he heard something behind him), and glances behind him, sometimes looking at his rear. I've talked to the vets about this, and they are not concerned. I do ride him, but i ride lightly, and stretch his legs before a ride. I live in a very hilly area, and I'm planning on boarding him on a flatter terrain this summer. I also keep him stalled at night, which i would prefer not to, but he is the houdini of horses. Any advice or ideas as to what this might be? He is on msm. When I ride him, he shows no signs of discomfort, only an ear flick if i ask him to move up, and slight laziness.
