I am 40 & am having an enforced break because I had to sell the lorry to pay for building work on the house. This break has given me time to wonder whether I'll get back into it or not. On the one hand I've competed since I was 14, & got up to 1 m 15 with the late Catembi; on the other hand, competing sometimes seems to take an awful lot of time, effort & ££££... The aim was to try to get Trev up to Fox & adv dr, but I wonder whether we will end up as happy hackers instead.

So, will I give up competing or will I end up buying a trailer in the spring & be out n about most weeks...?? Was just wondering whether I'd reached the age when most people want a quieter life. Doing patchwork instead of competing & whizzing about to lessons gives me faaaaaar too much time to wonder!

I don't compete SJ any long due to complete lack of confidence a few years back after retiring my the show jumper due to an injury and discovering that I liked showing. That said, there are lots of people that I used to compete against still out there aff show jumping and they would be in their 50s.

Having moved to the very dark side of showing finally reached HOYS in my mid forties.

Now this could just mean that I have never found anything else to do (as can't sew so patchwork wouldn't be an option)!

40 is the new 21 I am sure.
