Oldest Welsh Pack

According to Baileys', The oldest is the Gogerddan which hunted around Aberystwyth/Talybont in 1600 - no doubt been amalgamated with someone by now! Next is the Llangibby (1641) and they're still going aren't they?

That's only the foxhounds, haven't got time to go through the harriers, beagles, or otterhounds!

Yep LLangibby is still going although amalgamated with The Curre. I thought Llangibby was the oldest but obviously not !

1600 wow.. now thats a tradition !

that's interesting i never knew that! well like they say you learn something new everyday!

heya sorry about this as it is a bit random ( i am doing an easter egg hunt)!

No they are still going, when I was born up in Aberystwyth Dad followed, they are gun one day and mounted another I think. I bought OH a print of them hunting in the 30's on Ebay last week.

The Llangibby is now the Curre and Llangibby, my sis ex was kennelman there.

Thanks for that P!

Very true that the Gorgeddan hunt are still hunting strongly, however, they are only hunting a few days per season on horse back. They have turned their attension far more to the shooting side of things and have only 15 hound couples to date.
For some reason I thought that Tivyside and Penterch would rank higher in the 'oldest' sector. Or was it just that Tivy were given permission from the Royal Family to use the Welsh plooms[however its spelt?!] as thier symbol in the 18th century???
Cheers.

Tivyside are one of the oldest, says that on the schedule for their show, but I'm not sure if they are the oldest. Sure its the G who are.
