Oldy scouring - Formex or similar probiotic / yeast product?

I have an old pony with the runs. He's fine in himself, but I'd like to get his gut flora back to normal if at all possible. I've seen good reviews of a product called Formex, but can't find any locally or on UK sites.

There are a range of equine probiotics on the market, but some of them are very ££££ :O

Does anyone have any experience to share? Would be great to know if any of these things work!

My mare was scouring and at the time when she started she was also colicy. I was looking to put her on brewers yeast and yea sacc but found I was already spending affair bit on feeds and supplements so wanted an alterantive. I came across Thunderbrook and within a few days of being on it her scouring stopped and shes not coliced since. It has a pre and pro biotic in it and it works out cheaper for me to feed this than what I was spening before as you feed so little.

Aloe Vera Gel is great for digestive health. Is it worth having the vet take a look first, to make sure no underlying problem?
