Just heard the news that Oli is out of the olympic contention because the owners of Flint Curtis want to focus him on British Comps. I am quite shocked at this as I thought that he would get on the team (or at least have a big chance of replacing zara). I guess in 2012 Flint Curtis will be 16 - maybe too old, but hopefully Oli will have some more good horses then.
I hope Flint Curtis does well in British comps, to may the decision worthwhile.

Just wondering what you think

He wasnt a serious contendor for the spot and the owners probably knew that and didnt want him following team orders on the off chance.
Maybe anyway!!

i think that is the official story. unofficailly everyone was talking about him being out before he finished bramham. suffice to say there is more to this story than meets the eye.....

Shame.......

Sorry, no...

I'm not really in to gossiping, I shouldn't have added that

icon! There is more to it, but let's leave it at that!

PMSL!! dont worry about millicent, doodles, i think you will find she is really quite well informed herself and probably just really wants to know if you actually know anything or not!s

i don't think FC's dressage is as rock-solid as it needs to be for the place, tbh. Also, the fact that he ran at Bramham and not at, say, Luhmuhlen, seems quite telling.
this announcement looks like a face-saving exercise to me; from all i've heard, it has been a decision between Ruth, Daisy and Tina ever since Zara had to withdraw.

Thats intresting, didn't think he was a main contenter anyway.

I heard from a very reliable source that Ruth won't be picked on account of her dodgy knee, and she knows this!!

Hmmm. Don't think your source is that reliable....

Exactly Kerilli... face-saving exercise seems to perfectly describe it.

And a dodgy knee??? It cant be that bad if she can ride three round Bramham!! She is VERY popular with the selectors, and regarded as one day being in the same league as the likes of Pippa.

It was from ruth's main sponsors easybed, one of their brampton stockists

Well I have 3 lessons with her this week, which i am VERY excited about!! so i'll ask her then.

I thinks she will still be on the team, results prove that the knees fine.

Didn't know he was ever in contention, but it's a shame because I like OT - and FC is possibly one of my favourite horses ever, not that most people will agree and that's probably why!

I heard that it was between tina and oli...but obv it wasnt.

I think clare balding also thought so...from her blog

I thought Oli was no longer going to be considered for contention because he had had a dispute with a steward or fence judge at a recent event and would need to be disiplined, and they also decided on account of that he wouldn't be selected. But i'm not sure how much truth there is to that...oh well

He was fined before the start of the season for vebally abusing another competitior in the sj warm up at Oasby. He just doesn't rate very highly as a 'personality' in my books.

Oli's out?? Oh my god i think i might cry into my soup.....

Not.

He was never in serious contention anyway - it was made clear a week ago that it was the three girls that were in contention for zara's spot.

Shame - I really like OT but he'll have plenty of opportunity in the future. I'm sure he'll get his Olympic chance in 2012. I'm not sure I'd like to compete a horse out there anyway - hard ground, high humidity... not ideal especially when he can make more money competing in this country/Europe.

I think Daisy should get the spot now, definitely not Ruth... just don't think she handles the pressure at big events as well as some of the others.
